Privacy policy

The short version

You can use this site without an account and without giving us any personal information. Your dietary filters are stored in your own browser and are never sent to us. We do not collect sensitive personal information, and we do not sell, rent or trade any information about you.

Your dietary preferences stay on your device

When you save filters or preferences, they are stored in your browser's local storage on your own device. They are not transmitted to us, and we cannot see them. Clearing your browser data removes them. We chose this design deliberately: what your family avoids is your business, not ours.

What we do collect

If you contact us, we receive whatever you choose to send (usually your email address and message). Our contact form opens your own email app, so nothing is sent to us until you press send there.

When you report a problem with a recipe, the details you enter (the issue, any note, and your email if you add one) are sent to us through Web3Forms, a form delivery service, which passes them to our inbox. We use these reports only to check and fix recipe listings.

We also collect anonymous, aggregate usage statistics (which pages are visited, country, device type) through a privacy-focused analytics service. These statistics do not use cookies and do not identify you.

How we use information

We use contact messages to respond to you and to improve the directory (for example, fixing a wrongly tagged recipe you report). We use aggregate statistics to understand which parts of the site help people most. That is all.

Cookies and local storage

We do not set cookies. The site uses browser local storage only to keep your saved filters and to remember that you have seen the first-visit introduction. You can clear this at any time through your browser settings.

Third party services

The site is hosted and its anonymous analytics are provided by Vercel. Hosting infrastructure may be located overseas, including in the United States. Our email is handled by our email provider. These services process data only as needed to run the site.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect any information we hold, such as contact emails. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Because your preferences never leave your device, the information we actually hold about you is minimal.

Access, correction and deletion

You can ask us what information we hold about you (usually just any emails you have sent us), and ask us to correct or delete it. Email hello@findrecipesthatwork.com and we will respond promptly.

Children

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with a revised date.
